Software Identification

Applying SignaCert for software identification

SignaCert was designed for software identification. With SignaCert you can compare measured system and device files with software signatures stored on the Enterprise Trust Server (ETS). This lets you quickly obtain a list of approved and prohibited files or applications, evaluate an entire machine to assess its "inventory," or rapidly diagnose a problem. SignaCert software identification gives you the ability to perform:

System assessment

Initial system assessment: ETS can show you what level of visibility and controls are present in your systems management. This includes identifying the authenticity of commonly deployed commercial and open source software, as well as of proprietary customer software.

Software distribution identification

Asset distribution: Identify what software has been deployed on what machines.

Software measurement

Current diagnostic tools often provide limited visibility into the root causes of downtime. With SignaCert, you can quickly identify deviations from the intended deployment, lowering MTTR and freeing up time for employees to work on other things.

  • Approved applications list: Prove that target machines have only approved, authorized applications installed on them and report any discrepancies.
  • Forensics analysis: When a system fails, identify deviations from what is supposed to be deployed on the machine, thereby significantly reducing the quantity of files that must undergo detailed forensic analysis.
  • Rapid diagnosis: Evaluate systems, sub-systems, and endpoints and quickly identify changes from the desired state. The diagnosis can be applied to images and builds, applications, entire contents, configuration files, and more.
